De decimalisering maakte een eind aan de onderverdeling van guldens in 20 stuivers van elk 8 duiten. De voet en de roede werden ingeruild voor meters, centimeters en kilometers. Maar tijdmeting werkt nog steeds heel onhandig met zestig minuten in een uur en 24 uren in een dag. Het is wel geprobeerd hoor: in 1790.
